Benjamin (Ben) Emmich is a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Economics at Florida State University where he holds the L. Charles Hilton Jr. Fellowship. His research is in applied microeconomics with a particular focus on Law and Economics and Public Finance. Using the modern econometric techniques of causal inference, he studies the impact of participants in the criminal justice system on outcomes for criminal defendants with a particular focus on the effects of attorneys and judges on criminal outcomes. He holds a Master of Science in Economics from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics with Minors in Economics and Statistics from Mississippi State University.
