Frank Kerins, Jr. is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship (JJCBE) at Montana State. Frank has teaching, research, and consulting interests in investments, corporate and entrepreneurial finance.
Much of Frank's research has focused on the financial risks associated with entrepreneurial ventures and initial public offerings. Frank's research has been published in journals including Financial Management, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Financial Economics. Frank is on the Board of Directors of the CFA Society of Spokane with the primary responsibility of enhancing the relationships between investment professionals and local universities and colleges. Frank is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Professional Engineer (PE).
Frank’s recent research has focused on the impacts of regulation on banking and entrepreneurial ventures. The banking research examines the effects of Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank regulations on private, community banks. Frank also has been working with researchers at the Center for Biofilm Engineering at MSU to better understand how regulations at the FDA and EPA impact the development of biofilm-related products.
Before entering academia, Frank was a consulting, mining and civil engineer. Prior to coming to Montana State University, Frank was on the faculties of Washington State University, the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, and the University of Otago in New Zealand.
