Course description

The course will provide understanding of the Industry 4.0 concept in the context of strategic industrial policy. Industrial companies are incorporating emerging technologies into their daily operations. Digitalisation of manufacturing processes creates a need to understand many variables and challenges for the efficient transformation of the industry. The course will provide knowledge about innovative state of the art technologies, which are used in business operations and processes, and the different levels of technology impact. Students will be able to analyse the needs of the business for the application of innovative industrial technologies in the context of sustainable business practice.

Course goals

The main aim of the course is to provide knowledge and abilities for the students efficiently plan and develop strategies for the implementation of innovative Industry 4.0 technologies in the business, to satisfy growing needs for the sustainable management of the industrial processes.

Course results

  • Students will be able to understand main strategic principles of Industry 4.0 concept from political, economic and social perspectives.
  • Students will be able to describe state of the art and emerging technologies in the context of Industry 4.0.
  • Student will be able to analyse the business needs for the application of innovative automation technologies.
  • Students will be able to develop an action plan for the transformation of industrial practices for the business towards more sustainable technological processes.
